Longtime professional woodturner, Rex Burningham, is a nationally recognized demonstrator and teacher. As an instructor for many years at the Dale L. Nish School of Woodturning, Rex has extensive experience in nearly all aspects of woodturning and is eager to share with students the fundamentals and advanced techniques for successful woodturning.

Functional Woodturning

The focus of this class will be functional woodturning with an emphasis on chucking, sharpening and tool techniques. Rex will share the tips and tricks that he a has picked up over 30 plus years of teaching woodturning and selling his woodturning. Bowls, plates, platters, bud vases, pepper mills, rolling pins, lidded spice bowls, goblets, and other production items will be turned to develop and test your skills. Harvesting wood and turning green (wet wood turning) wood will be explored in depth to give you the knowledge to produce your own turning blanks. We will also talk about tools, supplies and machines you will need to best achieve your woodturning goals. I will consider the class a success, not by the quality and quantity of the bowls you take home, but by the knowledge and skills you take home, things that will make you a better turner!
