- The Turners Select™ 1/2" Key Drill Chuck is one of the most useful accessories for the lathe. It enables the lathe to perform many of the functions of a drill press, with the key chuck holding tool bit shanks up to 1/2" diameter. It allows the turner to use twist drills, spade bits, and forstner bits to bore vases, tool handles, lamps, etc., as well as depth holes in bowls. A quality chuck at an economy price.

Comments On Feb 10, 2020:I have been using this chuck quite a bit to drill with either a drill bit or a fostner bits. Always tight and always square with the work.

Comments On Aug 26, 2016:This Turners Select 1/2" Key Drill Chuck is a wonderful new addition to my collection of lathe accessories. It will hold up to a 1/2" shank of a drill or forstner bit and mounts easily onto your lathe tail or headstock with the correct morris taper that fits your lathe. It comes with a chuck key and is made of good quality products. It is very easy to use and will cut holes into your work piece with ease providing you have a nice sharp bit. Back it off occasionally to reduce any heat build up and to also clear out shavings and it will work fine.

Simple, reliable - just what I was seeking!

Comments On Oct 03, 2013:I considered a keyless chuck, but I decided on a traditional keyed chuck and I could not be more pleased with my decision! The chuck fits perfectly and securely into the tailstock and the key secures the bit with certainty. It spins true and I have total confidence in the workmanship and I expect this chuck to last for years. Some folks worry about losing the key, but most tailstocks afford ample storage so that it will never be far.
