Robert Sorby® Stebcenter Crown Drive Centers feature a serrated drive ring with spring loaded center point that offers many advantages over traditional drive and revolving centers.
    • Safe: Light pressure from the tailstock allows the Stebcenter to drive the work while allowing the work piece to stop in the event of a tool catch making this ideal for beginning turners and students
    • Flexible: By varying tail stock pressure, the work piece can be inspected without shutting off the lathe, simply back off the tailstock until the teeth disengage the work piece. This allows the center point to hold the work in place with the lathe still running. Apply heavy pressure with the tailstock and you have a super aggressive drive center that won't slip.
    • Won't Split: The circular head design prevents splitting by distributing pressure evenly around the serrated drive ring. Use on small spindles and plastics without fear of splitting or chipping the work.
    • No. 2 MT

    Great Drive!

Comments On Jan 04, 2015:Great tool for holding my box blanks and turning the tenon for chucking. Excellent fit and finish.....much better tool in my opinion than the less expensive versions of steb centers out there.

Works well, until you gum it up!

Comments On Mar 17, 2014:I turned quite a few bowls and plenty of other things using this and it performed well, however; after a year, the center pin is stuck, gummed up, something. I've put engine gumout down its throat and repeatedly chucked some walnut up and knocked the pin back, and it's starting to move. I don't know any other way of getting it back to its working form. I do like it and will get another if I can't get this one working. Don't let this review stop you, it's well worth having one, and maybe I'm expecting too much and am learning an experience lesson in that I should check and clean my tools on a more regular basis. I'm just sayin'

    Look no further!

Comments On Oct 03, 2013:There are lots of stebcenters available, but this one offers the best qualities of all! The springloaded center allows for ultimate control when affixing the tool to your workpiece and the teeth around the drive center provide confidence that your piece is secure. Other stebcenters, specifically those with four fins can even lead to splitting your wood.
