- The Apprentice™ Angle Sander is designed for efficiently sanding many turnings but is most effective when sanding bowls, platters or shallow vessels. The sanding pad is driven by the rotating surface being sanded.
- Accepts all 2" hook-and-loop sanding discs
- The sander shank is fitted with a bronze bushing assembly that will last for years if lightly oiled from time to time
The 9-3/4" inch handle features an articulated head that allows you to adjust the sanding pad to a wide range of positions. The hook-and-loop backing pad is made of high quality foam that won't break down, while offering excellent flexibility when sanding various curves.

Not great

Comments On Sep 05, 2017:I was disappointed with this tool, a true rarity for a Craft product. It was flimsy, definitely not up to dealing with 10-15" bowls at speed, and the wheel crumbled during the first use. It is now clutter. Better to spring for the Sorby--more expensive, but likely to be useful

Sanding head low quality

Comments On May 14, 2017:The pole and pivot assembly are reasonably well made. The sanding head is of poor construction. The plastic base seperated from the arbor after 4 projects. Maybe 2 hours of actual sanding. Not sure about replacement parts.

Poor quality

Comments On May 01, 2017:During the first use the sanding head feel apart. Customer Support was awesome. Returned item and received store credit. Evidently there is an issue with this item cause none were in stock and they did not know if or when they would be.

Decent functionality for a reasonable price

Comments On Aug 25, 2016:For $30 this thing is pretty good, compared to the time/hassle spent of making one of your own. Mine lasted about 12 months (roughly 80-100 sanding pads) before the shaft bearings gave out. It survived another month after that before the foam pad split cleanly in two. I'll probably buy another one.

Expect a learning curve

Comments On May 27, 2015:Works pretty good on larger pieces. Easier to remove sanding scratches than hand sanding. With proper use it can help you maintain a sharp interior edge. The learning curve is about technique necessary to keep it spinning.

First Of These For Me and I LIKE It!

Comments On Jan 08, 2014:I've never tried one of these bowl sanders before. I've always just used my fingers, which as you know, can get hot and tired. Got this as a Christmas gift and tried it out today for the first time. I'm Impressed! Makes sanding the inside of bowls waaay easier and more pleasant. I also got the accessory kit with several different grits, an extra pad and a case to hold it all. So far, very satisfied with the quality and convenience this offers. I would give five starts but I'm not certain the bearing will last a long time. I only used it for about 10 minutes and there was some squeaking coming from it. I suppose it's from the dust and it may just last and last as is. I hope so because it sure is more efficient.

Good product
