Comments On Feb 09, 2021:I purchased these Salt & Pepper Shakers (and figured walnut and curly maple turning blanks a couple of weeks ago)... the results were fantastic! I modified the shakers to embed the bottom of the stainless steel shaker into the body of the shaker to make for a larger wooden shaker... with the figured walnut and the pepper shaker... it turned out great. I just bought more!

Comments On Jan 17, 2018:I have done six sets of these, For me installing the top ring first worked best. I then checked if the unit was to long or to short, by inserting the plastic insert and adjusting length of the outside by sanding the outside bottom, if to long. On some the plastic insert had to be shortened.

Comments On Jan 23, 2017:I had the same issue as another reviewer in trying to trim the ends. I have always used a drill and cutting trimmer. I think I have found a solution based on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZtnsP4N0d8
Made my own trim sleeve on the lathe which fits perfectly inside the tube and I will try it with a squaring jig for a sander (I just ordered a jig so not sure it will work but it should).

Comments On Jan 13, 2017:Purchased several of the Artisan Premium salt shakers and while I like the product the only issue I have is that the bushings are a bit larger the ends of the shakers. When measured I'm getting about 1.51" to 1.53" on the bushing sets I purchased. Had them turned down to exactly the width of the end caps at the whop n work and the work like a charm now.

Comments On Dec 26, 2016:Bought 11 pair of these and had a lot of fun making them. If you've ever turned a pen you can turn these. In fact, I turned all 22 of them with glue-ups consisting of waste block pieces from pens I've turned over the years, along with some leftovers from segmented bowl turning. The bushings are very heavy duty so you're not going to wear them out anytime soon. Assembly is also a snap. The forstner bit I bought here only lasted through about six borings. I bought one at Lowe's that did the other 16 with ease. One thing to be aware of, there isn't really a way to square up the ends like you can with pen blanks other than holding them to a disc sander and eyeballing it until it's square. The family loves these gifts!
