FAQs

Refrigerate it! Storing CA glue in the refrigerator dramatically increases its shelf life. It may thicken slightly when cold, but it will quickly return to its normal consistency at room temperature. Be sure to avoid freezing so as not to damage the glue.

To prevent clogging, always store the bottle upright. After use, gently squeeze the bottle until you hear a slight "hiss" of air escaping the nozzle tip. This forces any remaining glue out of the opening. Place the cap on the nozzle to prevent spilling.

Yes. Insta-Bond™ 5-Minute Epoxy is excellent for filling voids because it is non-shrinking and offers high structural integrity (7,000 PSI shear strength). For decorative effects, you can mix the epoxy with wood dust, crushed stone or mica powders.

Bubbling is often caused by applying too much accelerator too close to the surface. To achieve a crystal-clear finish with GluBoost or Insta-Bond™, mist the surface from 10–12 inches away using an aerosol activator. This provides a more even, gentle cure compared to pump sprays.

The right viscosity depends on the job to be done.

  • Thin CA (2-3 cps): This waterlike consistency is best for stabilizing "punky" wood, soaking into hairline cracks, and capillary action bonding. It's ideal for use as a CA finish.
  • Medium CA (600 cps): The all-purpose choice for general assembly, gluing pen tubes, and mixing with sawdust to fill small voids.
  • Thick CA (2,000 cps): Ideal for large gap filling, vertical surfaces where running is a concern, and bonding waste blocks to bowl blanks.
