Our experience has shown that most screw chucks are only used for a single purpose, and once set up are seldom changed. We decided to provide a single purpose screw chuck, rugged in construction and at an economical price. The Precision Machine™ Screw Center Chuck features a 3/8" x 1" stainless steel heat treated screw, which is fitted and pressed into the flange, straight and true, providing about 3/4" of useful holding power. The sharp threads cut into a 1/4" hole drilled into the wood, and hold the work securely.

    Great screw center chuck.

Comments On Aug 25, 2016:When turning a larger diameter bowl out of a heavy piece of wood this 3" screw center chuck is the item to have to get the job done. It is made of steel and has a nice weight to it. It holds your larger items securely in place and is easy to mount and remount.

    Good tool

Comments On Apr 23, 2015:Quickly grew out of using this chuck...however, not the tool's fault. The chuck is well made and sturdy, nice weight to it.
Great for the finicky little pieces that we come across every so often.

Precision machine 3" inch screw center chuck

Comments On Oct 16, 2012:I have four Precision Machine 3" screw center chucks, two of the 1 3/4" screw center chucks, and two of the (now discontinued) 4 3/4" screw center chucks. I first bought a couple of these twenty years ago, and have added more from time to time. I've found PM to produce an exceptional product and tolerance is within a few thousandths for all of them. I much prefer steel faceplates to aluminum. These will withstand use and abuse, and will last longer than you will! It is a good idea to get the replacement screw. I have modified one of my chuck center screws for a special purpose, and eventually you probably will, too.....have another one on hand. I have multiple screw center chucks, so that remounting of unfinished work is possible without the need to re-install the chuck. This insures perfect alignment on subsequent remounts.
