Hardened Steel Lip is Great

Comments On Jan 21, 2015:I have found that the hardned steel top edge is a must when using skews or scrapers that do not thave rounded corners.
When using a gouge this rest perfoms like most others, allowing the tool to slide across the smooth upper surface. However when I used a scraper as a shear scraper (tilting it up on edge) or when I used a narrow parting tool and move it sideways to flatten out a recess pocket, the harded steel would create a knick or mark in the top of a standard tool rest. Later this needs to be filed, sanded and polished out. This problem does not happen with this robust tool rest.

Good Working Edge

Comments On Dec 06, 2014:This is a great tool rest. The hardened steel bar is much better than cast or hardened steel rests. The only issue is that the steel bar broke off of the rest after over a year of use. The Robust company gladly replaced the unit without any hassel. Great customer service.
