The negative rake grind gives this scraper the ability to produce a clean finishing cut on end-grain, hard and high-figured woods as well as stabilized wood and plastic pen blanks without self-feeding.
When freshly sharpened, traditional tools tend to self-feed into hard and high figured woods resulting in a dig-in that results in torn grain.
The 3/4" scraper is recommended for boxes, bowls and platters while the 1/4" scraper is ideal for small boxes, stabilized blanks and plastics.
