Emily Ford, better known in the woodturning world as Sheturnswood, has been turning wood since 2015. She first picked up a gouge with the goal of making a handmade captive ring rattle for her newborn son, a toy filled with love and built to last. That first project sparked a lifelong passion. She soon set out to become a versatile turner, exploring everything from spindles and bowls to hollow forms.

Emily has since demonstrated at the Utah Woodturning Symposium, Rocky Mountain Symposium, Woodturners Worldwide Symposiums, and various woodturning expos. She is also a frequent presenter for interactive remote demonstrations with clubs across the globe. Locally, she has served on the boards of two AAW-affiliated clubs and was President of the Timpanogos Turners in Provo, Utah. At Craft Supplies USA, she has both taught and assisted in woodturning classes, sharing her knowledge with beginners and seasoned turners alike.

Early in her woodturning endeavors, Emily created the Sheturnswood Instagram page to showcase her work. Her projects quickly gained attention for their creativity and the joyful personality that shines through each piece. Today, she continues to grow that community while inspiring others to find the fun in turning.

Emily lives in Clearfield, Utah, with her husband, six children, a whole slew of chickens, four dogs, one cat, and three lathes. Whether she’s teaching, demonstrating, or turning in her shop, she still puts the same heart and soul into her projects as she did when she handed her son that very first rattle.

Whether you’re making gifts, keepsakes, or just looking for a quick and fun turning project, this demo will give you the skills and confidence to create beautiful ornaments that don’t require hollowing or glue-ups. Great for all skill levels!
