(Taxus baccata)
English Yew is a beautiful wood that has been used for centuries to produce longbows, staves for wine barrels, tool handles, and all types of turnery. Frequently found in ancient church yards in England, Yew is incredibly strong and durable. It turns beautifully and is light caramel in color with dark streaks and occasional small dark brown spots.
These English Yew turning squares are sold unseasoned. Blanks are likely to include the pith, which is very stable and can be left in the finished turning.
