This intermediate level Woodturning 201 Workshop is ideal for those who want to further advance their overall woodturning skills and learn advanced techniques. The emphasis of this workshop to help students learn more advanced tooling techniques while working on more challenging projects. Proper tool use, tool techniques and sharpening are constantly emphasized during the class. Due to the more advanced level of the projects and techniques to be covered in this class, we recommend that interested students be proficient in basic tool use and tooling techniques. We highly recommend that students attend a Woodturning 101 Workshop prior to participating in this workshop.
Topics to be covered:
- Advanced tool techniques- variations on cutting techniques for optimum results
- Tool sharpening- proper techniques used to create standard and custom grinds
- Elements of design- exploring the fundamentals of form, function and design
- Woodturning mastery- improving overall speed, technique and methods
- Basic elements of design

Emily Ford
Emily Ford graduated from Utah State University, where she studied history, folklore, and photography. She lives in Clearfield, UT, with her husband, 6 children, 2 cats and 2 dogs. She has been turning wood since 2015 and loves wood turning as a folk-art with a rich history and typically passed on from one person to the next. She loves the woodturning community and the friends she has gained, and enjoys spending time in her shop, turning and singing along to whatever is playing on the radio. Our workshop is located in beautiful Provo, Utah, just 40 minutes south of Salt Lake City.
Upon registering for a class, we will send you a packet containing helpful information when planning your trip, including hotels near us and other fun things to do during your visit to Utah.
In the event of cancellation:
We reserve the right to cancel workshops up to 4 weeks prior to the class date. In the event of a workshop cancellation, full tuition will be refunded. Please do not make airline reservations more than 4 weeks prior to the first day of class as we do not reimburse for any travel expenses incurred.
Student Cancellation:
Cancellations less than 6 weeks prior to the start of class will be subject to a 50% cancellation fee.
